Sweet Jesus! Bill Donahue and the Mob

Icon Leave Comment
Bill Donahue was on Anderson Cooper 360 last night with Cosimo Cavallaro, creator of the Sweet Jesus statue. Bill was, predictably, an insane embarrassment. And then he started threatening violence: Bill's a total sleaze ball. And the look on his face when Cosimo said he's catholic was priceless.

There aredivisions between nonbelievers.

Note: Despite our tongue-in-cheek title, Born Again Atheist (pronounced "Baa") is an Old Atheist, New Humanist blog according to the article's terminology. Although, I can't quibble with Steven Pinker's comments in the piece.

The "Culture of Obedience" Explained

The NYT didn't explain it before, but Glenn Greenwald takes down a perverse, authoritarian David Brooks column. Also odd, is that Brooks doesn't acknowledge... indeed, he refuses to acknowledge that Bush is, in fact the embodiment of Brooks' philosophy. Instead he complains that Bush's compassionate conservative...

Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson gets it right:
?There?s a real resistance to change and an almost pathological devotion to leaders simply because they?re leaders,?
Unfortunately, the article really isn't about the culture of obedience.

Forget the global warming subtext. Surely this is one of the signs of the apocalypse:
Dobson and the other signatories of the letter to the National Association of Evangelicals board said evidence supporting global warming was not conclusive and that the organization "lacks the expertise to settle the controversy."

The Devil and Dinesh D'Souza

I review Dinesh D'Souza's pact with the devil, The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 here.

The book is an embarrassing little monstrosity, and I hope I do it justice. Unfortunately, many reviewers have simply attacked the book's premise without acknowledging all the unhinged, absurd, and pathetic...
