For the Campaigns and Elections class I took in my final semester of college, one of my tasks was to write a research paper. I decided to write mine about the effects of scandal on electoral outcomes. I sought to answer these questions: How much impact does scandal have? Does scandal actually matter?

I found scandal has a lot of impact, and it does matter. That might contradict impressions people have from the media, but those are the conclusions the data support, in my opinion.
