This is amazing. Maybe you just dont like the regular remote thing, which will probably suck for FPS. But for sports games, it will be amazing. In madden, for example, you might "throw" the controller to simulate being a QB and throwing the ball.
Plus, all the uses that the video showed-
using as drum sticks, fishing rod, cutlery, a sword, baseball bat, etc.
This idea might alienate the 'hardcore FPS' guys, but Nintendo is definately going to drag in easy millions of parents and people who dont or think they could not play video games.
A TV remote is super user friendly. Its something people are familiar with. You cannot argue this.
And hell, that trigger/stick thing is awsome. Im definately sure a bunch of flight sims will take use of it. The remote itself might not be totally suited for FPS games, but besides that, its probably the easiest to use and greatest thing out there.
Plus, if you dont like, nintendo is comming up with a controller shell... like IGN's concept idea:

It might look like this, thought not wholly, but Nintendo's solution will probably be very similar.
This shell will ensure all ports are played easily, should the game devs not feel like introducing Revolution's proprietary controller features. (Which is ridiculous- devs have already said how NR will be the easiest to code on).
The shell will be perfectly adapted to playing regular FPS games, so no worries.
Being that this is nintendo, they'll probably include the shell in the console package so normal gamers can get it on, right out of the box. (M$ and sony, take a lesson here).
IMHO, this is totally amazing.
