The only reason liberals are against the EC is because Bush won the election. Had Gore won the EC he would be president, and no liberals would be calling for the elimination of the EC. They would be praising it because it would have denied the popular winner the election. They would justify that with all the hatred of Bush they have displayed since he was elected.

When Clinton won with less than 50% of the popular vote, I heard no liberals calling for a new system.

Conversley, I heard no conservatives calling for a new system.

This is all bad blood from the liberals. You guys always call for a "level playing field." But when that field causes your party to lose, then there is something wrong and it needs to be changed.

I dont know why, but liberals believe everyone else is always wrong, and therefore anything that empowers liberals, is good and just.
And anything/one that disagrees with them, is evil and wrong, and must be eradicated or changed.

Maybe some real tolerance and compassion could cause liberals to stop being so one sided.

The electoral college is a relic, and an undemocratic one at that. And when I think of things that could elicit my tolerance and compassion, the electoral college isn't even on the list. ;)

I understand you think it is a relic. But can you specify why?

Also, could you explain why the EC is bad if it elects Bush but it is OK for the GE to elect Clinton with less than 50%?

I would be interested in what you really think, not just one worders that explain nothing.

Thanks.
