Everyone, welcome to the Hypersyllogistic forums! While you're here, post about whatever you'd like. Hypersyllogistic does have a political focus, so many subjects will deal with that. But our goal is a full and vibrant community, so let your hair down some and express your feelings about anything. We have the appropriate boards to accomodate you.

As much as possible, Hypersyllogistic will enshrine free speech. This means if a topic is controversial or uncomfortable, it will still be left alone. Hell, such topics are encouraged, because they generate the most discussion. Just don't fall out of the realm of civilized discourse. Flaming or extremely graphic content (either violent or sexual) will not be tolerated. (Here are the rules for posting on these forums.)

Guide for New Users

1. Discover our mission by reading the About Us page. It describes what we're trying to accomplish with our community, and it sets the tone for our discussions. If you like what you see, register for our forums!

And we are a community. Relax, and talk about whatever you want.

2. Read our Forum Rules. They're not complicated, boiling down to, "Don't be an ornery git." Knowing the rules will just ensure there are no surprises.

3. The more members we have posting, the more varied and numerous our discussions will be, which means these forums will be more enjoyable. If you know anyone who might like the Hypersyllogistic site and forums, invite them here!

4. Post in any topic you want, old or new.

5. Start a blog if you have the inclination.

6. Upload pictures into the Gallery.

I've added a new user group, Forum Deputies, to these forums, as you might have noticed below on the group indicator.

What separates Forum Deputies from ordinary members? Users in this group can attach files to their posts on every board. They can store more private messages, attach files onto said private messages, and private message five people at a time. They can avoid the 60 second flood control. They can also add events to the forums Calendar, within seven days of which notifications will appear at the bottom of the forums. They can change their own rank titles. Additionally, their names will appear in bold, so everyone will know who they are.

How can one become a Forum Deputy? Two ways exist to do so. Members can do one or both.

The first way is to volunteer to serve the Hypersyllogistic site and forums by leading and maintaining discussions, watching the forums for bad behavior, and promoting Hypersyllogistic to other sites and people (without SPAMming, submitting the Hypersyllogistic URL to link farms, etc.)

Additionally, volunteers would need to be people I know and trust. New members I've never seen before, for example, wouldn't be eligible.

Another way to become a Forum Deputy is to donate money toward the running and upkeep of Hypersyllogistic. To donate, open up your control panel by clicking "My Controls" near the top right side of the screen. Navigate to Purchase Paid Subscriptions. The procedure from there should be straightforward.

I've created a new member group, just above Members: Advanced Members. Once they reach 1,500 posts, Members will become Advanced Members.

Advanced Members can avoid flood control, choose their own rank titles, and store more private messages than ordinary Members. Plus, they stand out with their red names and one-star rank pips.
