This board is, as the description says, for political debate. I considered having separate boards for domestic politics and international affairs, but then I thought, everything is connected. What happens in the US can affect people in Britain, and vice versa. Besides which, people of different countries don't know enough about each other's politics, anyway. So I decided not to segregate different categories of political discussion.
Also... One of my strongest beliefs is that political discussion should be possible without the rancor and rudeness it often has today. Therefore, as the forum rules state, flaming and insulting is not permissible. Some tension between debaters is inevitable, of course, but use common sense when deciding what could be an insult and what couldn't be. (E.g., "You are a moron" is obviously a flame.)
Make sure to argue in good faith as well. Intentionally distorting what others' say or otherwise engaging in trolling is just as disrespectful as insulting someone directly.
