I could not sleep this morning so i woke up and was laying i nbed watching Cnn and they were talking to a witness of the death announcement made by the Govenor when the misleading news orignally was 12 survivors and only one victim. Well 20 mins later the Govenor knew the truth that in fact there were probably 0 survivors and he waiting to say anything at all for 3 hours. When the people had finally gathered together about 500 or so in a small rickedy old church on the mine's grounds that was also hand built by the miners here was the site of the govenor's telling the crowds they were wrong and he took ful lresponsibility for the misguided reportings and they said that instead of 12 alive one dead it was the other way around and they had just in fact learned the numbers to thier exactness. What was needed was his forknowledge that none were relaly alive or the possiblity was almost impossible of anyone surviing.. Now even more eire is no one knows who the man was in the back of the church who came i n3 hours beefore the govenors speech and told them that it was amiracle 12 alive and only one dead. Was it a reporter or someon from the media camp trying to stir up a story was it an angel from god sent to test the people's faith? Was it just some fool or hopeful soul. No one is sure they will ever know. The people were sining amazing grace 5 minutes before the announcement and the pastor had asked that as many people as could would come up to the front of the church and kneel down and pray for the lost miner. Well people were so busy being happy the other 12 lived nad they owuld see thier fmailies soon no one but 5 min went up to the front of the church to kneel and pray. Well the survivor of the mine tragedy was related to one of the 5 people who went up and prayed at the altar. About 30 minutes later the govenor would come in and make the true announcement that only one man lived. And almost imedialty the crowd turned on the govenor and started cursing god and the church and people fled from the angry mod. !2 men were detained for trying to atackthe govenor. And the Pastor was injuried some too. These words and images i could not ge tout of my head this morning so i started writing a poem on the tv in dust and when i woke up again i wrote what i had down and finished it. It's not much but i have not written anything in amonth so i felt just happy to have somehting come out. Hope it means something to somone or its not jsut crap as per usual. :evilsmiley:

Sifting Through

deep down in the ground...
looking through the window at the mines...
Watching troubles unwind
Lost muh head beneath the pines
drifting from the fires with wine...
I can get chilled by the stove...
And inside the church of hope
The flowers are plastic and the air is dense
People sing and praise the one...
then the numbers are turned over and it all comes undone
does your faith hold you now?
An empty voice from the back howled
If it's only me who is scared
then may god take me here
Down below the earth in which we toil
falling on our heads is the endings of simple beginings
Will the world ever know how dark it is down here.
All alone its buried me with my fear.
When they drag me from the hill
Daddy will be watching from the still with torches
And we can watch the fires from the rooftop.
The man in charge the govenor at large
Takes on the tragedy in his hands...
dismissing the toll with words of reassurance
But we have had too many talkings to.
No one can say why only one was left alive.
But you cant be happy again
cause you are the one that was supposed to be dead.

I heard about that this morning...

I love the poem...
It's beautiful and moving... as per usual.

The ending is especially powerful.

Though it's a sad poem, it's also brilliantly written. (Reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe. :) )
