Do you prefer the noble opera of Ice Hockey, or the high stakes drama of Curling? Do you favor the cutthroat thrashing-set-to-music of figure skating?

Note: Snowboarding is included in Skiing, skating includes speed/figure skating.

I hate the Olympics, so I have no favorite. :P It's all boring, IMO.

Oh, the humanity. I wait four years for this. The skiing and speed skating, the hockey, the luge, and especially... curling.

Whoever invented curling really had issues, but it is one of the most addicting and thrilling tactical games.

But then I love turn based strategy. :(

I never got the appeal of watching sports, or why one would play them other than as a way of keeping in shape or pleasing one's parents.

I similarly don't understand the pleasing the parents thing... particularly the families for which these things are a legacy. And I feel the same way about playing sports videogames. :(

But It depends on whether you like the sport, and for me, the Winter Olympics is influenced by movies--embarrasingly--James Bond. Those movies made me want to ski, despite an acute fear of heights, and, specifically, falling off mountains. So for skiing, my initial exposure was from watching it anyway. And I still like watching it.

But some sports simply can't be enjoyed on television. Baseball is one of them. You can't even enjoy that in the stands. Or on the field. Hockey is similarly hobbled by TV. You don't get any idea of what its like in the stands: the sense of speed is nonexistent. It just doesn't translate with the camera pans, the unseen line changes and the rest.

I used to be a prolific rugby player when I was younger, until I stopped caring about what my parents thought of me. It could be fun at times, but ultimately I couldn't keep it up. I prefer playing sports more casually, for instance a spontaneous game of football (soccer) with my friends. When I need a work out I go to the gym.

I've never managed to watch an entire Sports game in my entire life. Rugby, football, basketball, and especially Cricket are incredibly dull to watch.

I count casual games as playing sports. Outside of schooling related things, and some rehab work, I've never been to a gym. I'm quite proud of that.

And the US lost a heartbreaker in curling today... only NBC cut to hockey (where the US also lost a heartbreaker) before the end.

Think for yourself.
Question authority.
Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos; it has been the authorities- the political, the religious, the educational authorities- who attempt to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations. Informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.
Think for yourself.
Question authority.

Skiing and skating... definitely. I don't like watching the bobsledding because I'd rather be in one than watching it :P
