I have added to the Hypersyllogistic Writings page a term paper I wrote for my Military Force and Foreign Policy class, which I've entitled, "Neo-Containment for a Nuclear Iran." In it, I provide a historical background for Iran and the current nuclear crisis, analyze potential courses of action in light of that background, and then suggest my own approach to the problem.

Comments, feedback, and criticisms are welcome.

A good read and a good suggestion.

You should throw a few copies over the White House fence while you're still in Washington, for I fear it's the best chance we have of the Bush administration persuing such a rational course of action.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be affraid of their people."

Are you actually able to reach the government via mail, either directly or indirectly?

Yes, anyone can send snail mail or e-mail to their congressmen or the president. But, considering the volume of correspondence these people receive, staff assistants will most likely be the ones who read the mail. Politicians wouldn't have time.

Indeed. :P In this instance, though, I can understand the government's actions. Lax security measures result in dead presidents (which I think would be especially true in the poisonous modern political environment). For the American people's leaders to be assassinated wouldn't serve their interests.

You'd think some of the stuff would reach the higher-ups. British politicians often reference their own constituents when speaking of different issues. They also have sessions every week where they give their constituents a chance to meet and talk to them in person.
