For my Judicial Politics class this past semester, we had to attend oral arguments before the Supreme Court and then write a term paper conveying our impressions of the court and the proceedings, as well as analyzing how the justices might decide the case. Unfortunately, seating for visitors inside the Supreme Court is limited, and a line of tourists and groupies to get inside forms in the wee hours of the morning. And sometimes, people camp out the night before to secure good spots in line! So gaining admission to oral arguments before the Supreme Court is difficult. I could not do it.
For students like me who couldn't witness the Supreme Court in action, the professor also allowed us to go to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to complete the assingment. That's what I did, back in April.
Now, I've put
the paper I wrote about the experience on Hypersyllogistic.
